The CMPG meets every other Wednesday and all those with an interest in photography, be it film or digital are warmly invited. See the website for dates and locations of meetings. The CMPG aims to further all aspects of the picture taking abilities of its members through the sharing of skills and mutualsupport in an informal, inclusive and enjoyable atmosphere.
CMPG is run solely for the benefit of its members and a fee of 40bht per person is collected at each meeting to help defray expenses. Meetings last two hours after which we encourage you to stay for a while and chat with other members over a drink in the bar. We can’t cover everything in the formal bit and this is a good time to explore interests you share with other photographers.
We are open to persons who have an interest in or enjoy doing most anything with textiles, be it weaving, quilting, knitting, embroidery, etc. We come together to learn, receive help from each other, and always have a good social time. We meet every other week.

While many people have an interest in hypnosis, often their biggest hurdle is finding someone to practice with. In this group we help each other learn real-world skills in both conventional and conversational (covert) hypnosis. In other words, we get together to learn hypnosis and to practice it. We also share experiences on how to use self-hypnosis for such things as changing habits, increasing confidence, overcoming fears, self healing and reducing pain.
Garden enthusiasts meet in people’s homes, parks and other interesting venues to learn about and discuss garden topics. After the meetings we usually share a meal because we also enjoy the social side of being in this group.

We are bombarded with information on how to change our behaviour to live better, more fruitful, more satisfying lives. This information is sometimes confusing and generates more questions than answers –what should we eat (eggs? fish?), drink (alcohol? coffee? tea?), do and how often? (exercise? sleep?). What is now clear is that we are not simply slaves of our genes but can, to an extent, control how we age. Therefore we have to make decisions about how we live and we can only make good decisions with good information.
This outside group is created to:
Share information about how to combat the effects of ageing by changing our behaviour. There is a great deal of research-based evidence that can help with this but it is of variable quality. It therefore needs careful consideration before we make changes.
Help change any behaviour and habits that are likely to limit the quality and length of our lives.
Assist members to determine how they may change their lifestyles and habits to use this knowledge.
Test out ideas and generate information as to the viability of making particular change and find better ways of making change generally.
Provide specialist input (e.g. yoga, tai chi, meditation and more) that is known to benefit the ageing process in ways specifically adapted to an older audience.
The style of the group is informal, interactive and humorous in order to encourage change. The group will be responsive to particular issues that members may want to pursue. You don’t have to be committed to any change, but check out what is known so that you can “audit” your present lifestyle.
Contact: Mike Partner, email: firstname.lastname@example.org. I am sociologist/psychologist by training and have been involved in helping people change in various settings.
You don’t need to be a member of CEC to join us. Come and learn, maybe change and enjoy yourself!
A bit like tennis but more fun. Chiang Mai Pickleball is a great way to exercise at any age. It’s a fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong, created for all ages and skill levels. The rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players.
Chiang Mai Pickleball meets Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8.30am (earlier in summer), just minutes from the city centre. See facebook page for full details and a quick video of where the courts are and how to get to there. https://www.facebook.com/groups/ChiangMaiPickleBall/ John, the group co-ordinator supplies paddles, balls and equipment for everybody to use. Disc golf is played much like traditional golf. Instead of a ball and clubs, however, players use a flying disc, or Frisbee®. The sport shares with “ball golf” the object of completing each hole in the fewest strokes (or, in the case of disc golf, fewest throws). It is one of the fastest growing sports in the world.
We play Wednesday and Sunday afternoons at running/riding track, and other times can be arranged. See flyer for map.
