A quick word about discounts provided by sponsors…

Many of us come from countries where retailers routinely offer 15 to 25% discounts, and one can often find 50% and higher discounts.  For this reason, we are conditioned to not be impressed with smaller discount percentages.

It is important for us to keep in mind that retail prices in Thailand are typically much much lower than where we came from. Thai businesses run on significantly lower profit margin percentage than those in the west.  Thus, the ability to offer 20% and higher discounts is severely limited.  Here in Thailand, a 10% discount is quite significant for the seller; and has a major impact on his profit margin.  Keeping this in mind will help us all to manage our expectations and to appreciate the discounts that are provided by sellers here in our adopted country.
